Bighorn Mountains Jeep Trip - September 17th 2022 - Boulder Basin
Where: Bighorn Mountains - Boulder Basin
Where to Meet: Shell Creek Ranger Station Campground - Bighorn Mountains, WY
Meeting Time: 10:00 am - This will be a full day trip.
Fuel: Make sure to Fuel up at the bottom of the mountain! There is no fuel available near the ranger station or Boulder Basin.
Email to Sign Up: , go to "Details" near the bottom of our the page, click "View Email Address" to get a contact email address. Alternatively, you can contact Melissa via any of the Wyoming Jeepers' social media accounts to coordinate with her. The reason for the email is to allow us to inform participants of any possible changes. If you don't sign up, you can still show up for the ride but we can't guarantee the logistics. We don't plan to change anything but you never know what might come up.
Communication: Vehicle to vehicle will be GMRS radios. FRS radios will also work on GMRS frequencies.
Vehicle Requirements & Types: We understand folks love side by sides, four wheelers and motorcycles but due to the noise level, this trip is intended for regular vehicles only. You need to have a vehicle equivalent to a Jeep Wrangler with a two inch lift and 33" tires capabilities for the Boulder Basin road.
About the Trail: Most of the trail does not require recommended vehicle requirements listed above. However, there are a few obstacles that can not be bypassed and will require the higher clearance. Some of the trail is tight, you may hit bottom on some rocks and brushing against some tree branches can be expected. Some of this trail is more technical than Woodchuck Pass. If you went down the last 1/4 mile of the West Fork Big Goose Creek trail, that would be similar to some obstacles found on the Boulder Basin trail. Best guess of a trail rating is 5/10.
Food: Bring your own snacks and lunch.
Lunch Stop: We will be stopping along the way for lunch. We could easily spend an hour meeting people, looking at rigs, eating, etc. We hope to spend a little more social time at lunch than the last trip.
Cabin Stop: The cabin stop you can see in our "" video may or may not happen based on time and number of participants. This is a 3 mile round trip detour from the loop we will be taking. It will be nice to go to the cabin but it may not happen.
Etiquite: We want this trip to be fun for all involved. Please be considerate of everyone. This is a drug/alochol free trip.
